07:10 AM ET 07.17 | While it hasn't hurt the Heat in terms of championships, many have wondered along the way whether a center would help their cause. Miami has the $3.183 million taxpayer midlevel exception available and is looking at the possibility of signing free-agent center Greg Oden, who hasn't played in an NBA game since November 2009 due to knee problems. However, Oden's agent, Mike Conley Sr., told FOX Sports Florida it likely will be a few weeks before Oden picks a team. Interested suitors must continue to sift through medical records. ... Oden remains very interested in the Heat, but Conley wouldn't go so far as to say they are the frontrunner. Other teams in the mix include San Antonio, Dallas, New Orleans and Sacramento.

4 years off won't affect him sitting on the bench.

I sure hope the Heat didn't cut Miller for this guy. That would be very dumb. Wait. It was dumb to cut him anyway.

I wonder what Lebron thought about this because I thought Lebron and Miller played well together.

Just...WHY?? Good point Onion.

Oden has a decision to make?

Damn it pays to be tall...

But sitting on the bench would surely lead to instant arthritis in those knees of his.

Not 1, not 2 but 3 micro fracture surgeries! I would love to see him make a comeback but this kid really needs knees to get around the next, oh, 50-60 years!!!

He probably ate all his veggies and "taters" when he was growing up. :-)

Wait... This dude is not already 50-60 years old...? Maybe he's like that dude Benjamin Button and will get younger as he gets older.

Capo, how goes it my friend?

I'm only veggies away from tall since I've had my share of taters.

In fact, as a baby I won a tater pageant. I was Tater-Tot of the year...

This is some funny sh eit. Oden has become The Decision 3 but w/ less hype. I wonder if Miami is putting up billboards to convince Oden to pick them?

LMFAO - Same old Eli... Glad to see you are still around kicking it - I've only done a couple of drive byes in the last month or so.... Work has been a killah...

While it was dumb to cut Miller it saves the heat some 15 mil this season, 30 mil all together.
To release Joel would have only saved the heat 9 mil so do the math.
I hate that Miller is gone also, but am sure the heat will sign Oden, and the rookie they acquired on draft night from the hawks Ennis.

How about a freaking work out in a few weeks? Forget the "decision".

Miller was cut because his salary of 6.2 million did not match what he gave on the court in regards to actual minutes.

The 17 million that they had to pay if he stayed was just beyond ridiculous.

23.2 million is not worth it unless you are talking about a Lebron or Wade or Bosh.

I am sad to see him go as well, but, I think a James Jones will give them similar production off the bench when called on...

Actually down here in Miami, his name is not even being mentioned.

Oden is being mentioned more by ESPN and SI than anywhere else.

The guy is a former #1 over all pick and does have talent...if he can stay on the court, the guy could be an asset to any team.

In Miami's rotation, he could be a solid asset against bigger rebounding teams.

Because lets face it...if Miami gets Oden and he can provide solid defense and grab those boards that they miss with the smaller lineups, that would solve 1 of their glaring issues this past season.

While I agree it was excessive, it was agreed upon by both sides. I understand that covenants are broken all the time but it's wrong.

Man's word isn't worth what it's should be.

You sure the Cubans aren't mentioning it in Spanish? Just curious...
