PG controversy looms in Detroit

07:13 AM ET 07.17 | At this point, you can't fault Brandon Knight for being less than thrilled with his standing in Detroit. Mr. Big Shot's back. The Pistons didn't go through all the pomp and circumstance of staging Chauncey Billups' return Tuesday in the Palace atrium unless they envision him as the likely starting point guard on opening night. And the Rajon Rondo rumors aren't dissipating anytime soon. ... If he's a competitor, Knight will use the shifting currents as motivation to push himself harder. It doesn't help Knight's development as a NBA-quality point guard if he honestly believes there's limitless time on that clock. He'll get every opportunity to prove that he's ready to assume the leadership responsibilities that come with the title of point guard.

Brandon shouldn't be upset about this at all. If he can't keep Billups out of his playing time then that's on him. He should be playing circles around Billups at this stage in his career.

Have to agree with you on your assessment here...

Yup- Mr. Big Shot has been a "Little Shot" even since he ruptured his Achilles tendon several years back.

I always thought Brandon Knight was a 2 guard anyway. Send Stucky to another team and play Knight there. Either way Chauncey is going to help if he can stay healthy.

Billups will be there to tutor Knight. I have a feeling he becomes an assistant for the Pistons after 2013-14 season.

Good call Guam and I can see that happening....

Exactly.

They need to limit Chauncey mpg.

*Chauncey's*

If Knight is intimidated by a 55-year old PG with broken knees that's lost his shot, he doesn't deserve to be in the NBA. Knight's been around for a couple years so it's time to put up or shut up.

Bingo.....If you can't beat out a 76 year old with one Achilles.....What good are you?

In as much as I agree with you sometimes coaches make bonehead decisions that affect a players development. With Detroit not looking to make it far, they may play him less to decrease his market value so they can resign him for cheap. There's always different agendas in business so I don't mind him speaking up for himself... he just gotta keep it in context so he's not misunderstood.

Detroit should deal Drummond and a pick for Rondo-

Boston gets a great young big man to build around that is on his rookie deal on a low salary

Detroit gets a legit PG and is an instant playoff team

PG- Rondo
SG-Pope
SF-?
PF- Smith
C- Monroe

they need to find a SF and add a little depth- but with Rondo i think Detroit would make the playoffs-

Drummond would be a very nice player for the Celts to match with Olynk - one guy a pf that can shoot and stretch the floor- the other guy a big time shot blocker and rebounder and dunker

the back court is easier to build then the front court and theyd have their frontcourt for a very long time
