02:18 PM ET 07.17 | This season, Indiana Pacers swingman Paul George had his coming out party and has not hidden his desire to get paid. Entering the final year of his contract before becoming a restricted free agent, the Pacers are eligible to extend a contract offer to George, which is something they might want to do before the Los Angeles Lakers can set their sights on an offer sheet. According to George, it would be tough to turn down an offer from the Lakers, his "hometown" team, if you will.

I thought Paul was a smart player. Why would anyone wants to talk about what team they would LIKE to go in a year's time, just before a season starts? If he wants to be the leader of his team, this is hardly the way to speak out. He'll lose locker room cred amongst team mates.

Nothing wrong in wanting to play for the Lakers (or whichever team of choice) but that discussion can be kept private with his agent etc. This is sheer lack of maturity on his part IMO.

I agree but the Pacers could be sending the message to him as well by not offering him his big pay early, instead they are having him and granger shot it out before they make a decision on who they pay

Fansided.com seems to really enjoy recruiting for the Lakers. Key point on this front is Paul will be a restricted free agent. Pacers will match if Paul has another season like the one he had.

You Would Look Good In Purple And Gold, Bro.

Looks like the Pacers are becoming the new farm team for the Lakers.

The Pacers better trade him if he doesn't sign the extension. Or have we learn nothing from Lebron, Melo, Bosh and DH.

Oh yeah, "that restricted free agent, matching the salary" BS, sure worked for the Lakers and Howard, didn't it?? :-)

Howard was an unrestricted free agent.

Couldn't have Howard stayed with the Lakers for "more money"??

You're right, my mistake, but Howard couldn't have said with the Lakers for more money!!!

It's no brainer. The Lakers are one of the teams that will have cap space and so it's only fair he uses them to drive up his value.

i would love to see paul in LA

With Larry Legend at the helm they better rush to get George locked down for a long time to come. The let Psycho "t" walk away for nothing, something I think the will regret in the long run. To let PG get away with compensation with be sinful. Interested in see how this plays out. This one is the Truth. No Limit to how good he is going to be.
