Look for Carolina to cut Carr

The Panthers, like other teams around the league, are free to begin releasing unwanted players Monday morning as the NFL waiver wire picks up. David Carr looked frightened in the pocket and his teammates quickly lost all confidence in him. By the end of the season coach John Fox was even afraid to play Carr, demoting him to third string. With a cap figure of more than $4 million, keeping Carr would be, well... ludicrous.

How this guys is still in the NFL surprises me. I saw him play this past season and he looked awful. I'm sure some team will pick him up though

February 11, 2008  07:03 AM ET

I'm not sure he could succeed on any team?

February 11, 2008  07:12 AM ET

He's still in the NFL to this point because his arm is still a beauty. Unfortunately, he's gun shy from the beating he took in Houston, and he doesn't want to get hit anymore. A few years as a third stringer, sitting on the bench oughta cure him of that...

There goes my fantasy QB for next yr..

February 11, 2008  07:41 AM ET

he could still be picked up for 3rd string or practice squad.
Today is my favorite day.
lets see who gets axed

I thought it was a great move when Carolina signed him. Oh man was I wrong. Take care Carr, you won't be missed.

I hear the cardinals are looking for a quarterback...

February 11, 2008  09:01 AM ET

Wait until Gruden finds this out..Can't have too many...

February 11, 2008  09:45 AM ET

Gruden seems to like those "fairy" QB's.

February 11, 2008  09:53 AM ET

Hopefully he hasn't squandered his money. Hes done.

February 11, 2008  09:57 AM ET

I am not surprised, only because he did NOTHING this year. But, I thought signing himwas a good move when it happened.

February 11, 2008  10:05 AM ET

This doesn't surprise me. What will surprise me is if a team gives him a third shot.

February 11, 2008  10:31 AM ET

He would be a perfect fit for Tim Couch's new pro flag football league....

February 11, 2008  10:52 AM ET

The AFL awaits, David. Good luck and good night.

February 11, 2008  11:04 AM ET

sounds very much like what they were writing about Eli a year ago -- remember, Tiki?

February 11, 2008  11:59 AM ET

Given the state of the NFL and quarterbacks, he will get another chance ...
