Jays' starters just aren't good enough

07:06 AM ET 07.18 | Alex Anthopoulos keeps waiting, ready for that next hot streak. He may be waiting a while now. The normally optimistic Anthopoulos, still believing in his high-priced roster, unwilling to concede anything in the American League East or wild-card race, must know deep down that his starting pitching is cellar-bound and there's little chance of changing that in the second half of the major league season. And that, more than anything else, must sting -- considering so many of his highly publicized moves of the winter were intended to repair the starting rotation. This rotation, right now, even with everyone healthy -- which isn't the case -- isn't good enough to be a playoff team.

In other "news", Prince Fielder won't steal 100 bases this year.

In other news, water is STILL wet.

To stay their starting rotation has been brutal is probably an understatement.

With the Jays GM trying to win at all cost he probably has set his franchise back about 5 years or so.

Wasn't expecting a Cy Young year out of RA. But wasn't expecting this ballooned ERA (in his knuckleball days). He has lost velocity on the knuckleball and it has made him an "average" knuckleballer.

.....with ramirez back, jays have the most talnet of any team in the east and this owner will see dividends in the 2nd half.....just ask the rangers....

The thought of Popodopolis still thinking the Blue Jays have a shot at a playoff berth amuses the hell out of me.

I don't see how he could really think that. Stick a fork in them.

He may not think that. But he has to say it to try to keep putting butts in the seats.

Toronto, if it was to somehow cobble together enough prospects for Matt Garza...could still finish at least fourth...if the Yankees falter.

Hahaha.

Boy, I sure hope so. Then they'd finish right where I picked them to preseason.

Shouldn't GMs stay away from winning forecasts in the media--until the team starts winning!
