07:09 AM ET 07.18 | Apparently, they had some immovable objects in their schedule. Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron and his teammates were nominated for the ESPY for best team, which was won by the NBA's Miami Heat, on Wednesday night. McCarron was not in attendance, though Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel and South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney did attend and each took home trophies. McCarron made it clear he has other things on his mind, via Twitter. "@10AJMcCarron: You're right I'm not at the espy's! I don't have to be at a award show to know what my team did. I'm back at school working to get another" ... McCarron, along with teammates C.J. Mosely and Anthony Steen, and head coach Nick Saban step to the mic Thursday on the final day of SEC Media Days.

He knew they weren't going to beat the Heat out....LOL

Lets see who gets a 3-peat. What is more important 3 time NC or an espy award.

LeBron may have an espy, but AJ has Catherine Webb.

Exactly right. 100x better to have, but CW is a tougher trophy to keep.

For now, anyways.

Kudos to McCarron. He's focused on the right things. ESPY's are a joke.

July 18, 2013  09:16 AM ET

The Espys are a joke anyway. How can the Heat be a better "team" than Alabama? Alabama preaches team constantly.

The Espys always go for the professional team.

Actually, she seems to be kind of the original clingon and he is kind of not going along with it. He had another girl "spend the night" with him, supposedly she was on the couch. Webb is the one that has been talking about marriage.

espy - to see at a distance; to catch sight of; glimpse.

I'll stick to that definition and use.

Someone needs to come up with a good word for "over-hyped, meaningless, inconsequential, and annoying awards show that makes you nauseous." I like the word "joke," and don't think it's being fairly used in this context.

Have to disagree with the Heat as the winner. They won a 7 game series 4-3, winning game 6 by the skin of their teeth.

Bama (and I am not a fan) demolished an undefeated opponent.

They did come up with a word (and its four lettered, too!) ...."ESPY"

But, the Heat (and I am not a fan) had to win against high quality opponents once the play-offs started. Bama just had to play a mediocre schedule, not play any high end teams from the other half of their conference, get lucky enough to have the other true team be ineligible, and have the talking heads at ESECPN tell everyone how great they are to get into the game.
