07:11 AM ET 07.18 | Tajh Boyd was ready to respond. [Boyd] had the tweet all ready to go. Upon hearing South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney's proclamation Tuesday that Boyd was "scared" of playing against him, Clemson's quarterback pulled out his iPhone and typed a 140-character response. Then he erased it, choosing instead to take the high road more befitting a fifth-year senior. "I'll tell you man, honestly, there's some things I would definitely like to say but I'm just not going to entertain it," Boyd told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday. ... [Boyd] struggled last year in a 27-17 loss to South Carolina, completing 11-of-24 passes for 183 yards while getting sacked 4.5 times by Clowney alone. It was Clemson's fourth consecutive loss to the Gamecocks.

After having a crappy day last year against USCe, Boyd's decision to put a lid on it is exactly what he should have decided. Kudos to him.

Smart move. Handle it on the field.

Yep.

My prediction is Clowney's words will continue to be newspaper fodder because SCe and ESPN have kicked off his Heisman campaign. They'll take every word to the extreme. Boyd is definitely doing the right thing.

Boyd's performance last year was bad, so he really had no proof to throw in Clowney's face. If he had thrown 21-24 with 3 tougchdowns, he could have easily said, "The facts prove that inaccurate." I'm not saying his bad performance = being scared, but there's no proof either way.

Just go out and play. I do think it's kind of bush league to call a QB "scared" like when it happened to the pro QB last year, was it Kolb?

"Fear is useful."

IMHO, this says just as much, if not more, about Clemson's O-line than Boyd. Maybe he didn't have a great day, but 4.5 sacks by one defender is horrible.

He wanted to respond but..........but............... he was scared.

The band is back!!! FAMU plays Ohio State this year. It's our money game so we'll get crushed on the field but I would love to see a battle of the bands at the end of the game.

Wow! That would be worth the admission price. Two completely different styles, but both outstanding in their own right.
