Langenbrunner isn't finished, eyes Wild

07:22 AM ET 07.18 | As it turns out, 37-year-old veteran Jamie Langenbrunner, a friend and former linemate of Zach Parise's, is not ready to hang up his skates after season-ending hip surgery with St. Louis. [He] would love to play for Minnesota. The Duluth News Tribune quoted Langenbrunner saying as such in [Wednesday's] newspaper. ... Langenbrunner's agent has indeed reached out to Wild GM Chuck Fletcher to see if there's interest. But remember, Langenbrunner, a former Cloquet High standout and Duluth native, wanted to play for the Wild last summer, too, and there was never any traction after the Wild signed Torrey Mitchell and Zenon Konopka hours into free agency. My gut? The Wild may eventually be interested in bringing Langenbrunner in on perhaps a pro tryout.

Eying Wild? Doesn't he know Toronto is the place to be?

Being elderly myself I can vouch for the fact that's it's hard, even on the young, in DC and Cleveland too this week. Actual temps in the mid 90's and "feels likes" about 105. But, at least you don't have to shovel anything and the roads are clear. Except for the bodies of those who have collapsed.

Agree, a lot of houses have no AC out that way, so when it hits it hits hard. Guy on NBC news said this was the 'new normal'. Hope not.

I have two A/C's cranking right now and I'm not going outside until about noon when I head for the crazy blonds house to float in her pool. There is nothing I can build today that I can't build tomorrow.

My office is so cold I wear a long sleeved fleece and a rugby shirt to work.

And the heat pump at home keeps things nice and cool.

Even on those beastly hot days.

I expect it once a summer. Still doesn't make it any less unbearable. It seems like DC/Phila always get it the worst for some reason.

The last three summers have been so hot, we haven't been able to get out on our back deck much - even in the evening. And, we are 30 miles outside of Philly. I can't imagine what it's like in town on days like this.
