07:03 AM ET 07.19 | Well, Houston-Dallas matchups just took on another level of intrigue. [The Mavericks] will be better off in the immediate future because they missed out on Dwight Howard, allowing them to sign several other free agents, owner Mark Cuban said. "I think we've put ourselves in a spot where we're in a better spot than we were at if we got just the one max-out deal," Cuban told ESPNDallas.com during the Mavs' summer league game Wednesday night. "I think it'd be better shorter and longer term. I don't want to make that sound the wrong way. I think we'll be better this year because we added five good players or more." Cuban made similar comments last summer, when point guard Deron Williams decided to re-sign with the Brooklyn Nets.

Just wait until the game is on the line and the ball is in Calderon's hands. Brick time!

Ellis is definitely an upgrade over Mayo. But to say not having DH is better for the team is just plain dumb. Because they could have gotten Ellis anyway.

Jerry Jones, II. Taking success to mediocrity, or worse.

I implore everyone to go read the full article....

He states that he would rather have had Howard first and for most but they wouldnt have any money left to put around him until next year.... He said "plan B" was they filled out most of the other positions that they would have needed next year this year leaving them with money to get guy s next year...

That's when Jose has the ball in hands, double teamed and is too slow to get the ball in Dirk's hands. Seen it many times before.

That would be too easy, KIG...

There was always a "Plan B" if DH didn't come here. Unlike last year...

This reminds me of the Cav's owner when LeBron left. He said something to the effect of "Cleveland will win a title before Miami"

Clearly wrong and clearly sour grapes.

I think we'd all be better off as readers by not reading the article...

If it works for Cuban why not us?
