OKC GM wooing Miller in Miami?

07:04 AM ET 07.19 | Miami Heat swingman Mike Miller became a free agent Thursday, and his next destination awaits. Multiple reports Thursday said Miller is interested only in joining a championship contender, adding that the Thunder is considered to be the front-runner. A person with knowledge of the situation said Thunder general manager Sam Presti is scheduled to fly to Miami to meet with Miller this week. Because the Thunder's payroll is pushing up against the $71.7 million tax threshold, Oklahoma City would be able to offer Miller only a minimum contract for roughly $1.4 million. Under normal circumstances, that number might be enough to send the Thunder into tax territory. But a provision in the NBA's collective bargaining agreement could come into play.

since Martin is gone, Miller and pair with Fisher to continue the double flop

This would be embarrassing as hell if Miller joins OKC and helps them get to the finals and the Heat don't even make the finals.

Even worst if both teams make the finals and OKC beat Miami in the finals with him.

Like I said yesterday, this was dumb move by the Heat. Real dumb!

Ok needs a big that can score in the postWhy waste their time with Miller? And if they do bring him on.....that absolutely means lamb is a bustAnd that means they gave harden away for nothing

It doesn't have anything to do with the Harden trade...let the trade of Harden from OKC to Houston go, please...smh
Miller is going to be coming off the bench as a backup to Lamb. As of right now, the way the Thuder has explained this in news interviews is Lamb will be the 6th man and Miller will back him up. Since Miller's back is most likely going to need rest, if not surgery, Miller may not be available to the Thunder until the playoffs next year anyways...my question here is why would OKC want to take a guy that they know has a bad back and possibly won't be available until the playoffs (maybe).

For $1.4 million, that's not too bad of a pick up. It's smart to pick this guy up for nothing instead of picking a young player who has less experience and will get paid more.

Yep. If they had Harden this past postseason they might have made it a lot further than they did.

"Miller is interested only in joining a championship contender"

I hate when players say this. Poo poo on Mike Miller.
He isn't championship caliber. He got spoiled by LBJ.

I don't disagree but I think Miami will be just fine this season. Still the best team in basketball.

Not handing out bad contracts isn't the worst think that can happen. ANd I think Miller can be replaced. Miami is a great place to play right now for every reason. Really if your a free agent why would you not be interested in Miami? They can let FA come to them.

"OKC GM wooing Miller..."

He goes to a Western Conference contender, it could bite Miami in he butt...

The Mavs would be better off without him, or DH, or DWill, or CP3...

There Is No More Miller Time, Bro.

Everyone wants a chance to win a title and Miami is the best destination for that. Miller's body is breaking down pretty fast. Back surgery likely coming soon. Miami was smart to dump his salary, saved them 30 million.

Plus the weather is great and the night life and ladies aren't bad either.

I agree Miami made the right call.

Embarrasing? Sure. But is not going to happen. OKC needs another scorer and losing Martin hurt them big time...I do not think OKC even makes it back to the Finals.

As for the Heat, we discussed it yesterday and I do not get how you call this "dumb"??

The guy averaged 4 pts a game with 2 rebounds. He was the 10th substitution off the bench behind Wade, Lebron, Bosh, Chalmers, Allen, Battier, Haslem, Birdman and Cole.

Saving 17 million in taxes this year and 40 million overall in 2 seasons is beyond SMART!

Dumb is paying this much in taxes for his contribution.

I loved Mike and what he brought, he will be missed, but James Jones can give the Heat similar production when his number is called on.

I am not saying Jones is better than Mike in all areas, I am saying for the limited time that Mike played, Jones can hit the same shots.

Actually, I think it was closer to 40 when the tax escalates even more the season after next.

This is why so many players are taking less to come there..

A good move, would be the Bulls signing Miller.

They could use the shooting, even in the limited spurts MM gives.

I agree Chicago just like every team can always use more shooting. However for the Bulls it comes down to the same thing...Money, and the lack of cap space.

Chicago is in the tax so I doubt they will be looking to add Miller but again I agree they could use him. Although I like Mike Dunleavy better and Chicago signed him in the off season to back up Deng and Butler which would be the plan for Miller.

Forgot about Dunleavy.

With him, they have no need for Miller.
