09:26 AM ET 07.19 | Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is deciding to be his own hype man heading in to the 2013-14 NFL season. After a few mix ups on the coaching staff, Jones says that he expects to see a better team this weekend whenever the Cowboys begin training camp. While Jones is optimistic, it is important to remember that the Cowboys didn't make many major moves this offseason with their roster. If the team that went 8-8 a year ago is going to improve, it will be because of maturity, chemistry, and the team's new-and-improved coaching staff.

Want to see a better team?

Hire a GM.

That prayer goes up every night here in Texas. So far, it's gone unanswered.

8-8 I hate that. You get lousy drafts and usually no playoff.

want to see a better team.....buy a new one

Boy, I'm guessing JJ wouldn't like this pictiure of him one bit. Looks like Henry Fonda getting lost looking for the strawberries.

Sometimes the answer is 'No".

I realize I'm the only person on the planet who feels this way but I'm actually drinking Jerruh's Kool-Aid for a change.

Nobody is expecting much at all from the Boys this year. I like it. I like the lack of ill-advised yet flashy free agent signings. I like that no skill players were drafted for in the first round. I like that Dallas' draft pick future wasn't mortgaged for, say, Roy Williams or some scrub like that.

I like that nobody is talking about Dallas and I honestly think the Boys will fly all the way under the radar into a nice little postseason berth. At which point it's anybody's guess as to what will happen, but in all honesty the same fouls be said about every other potential playoff team.

Haven't felt this good about an upcoming Cowboys' season since 2008. Maybe it's false confidence or blind team allegiance but I have this weir's feeling about the 2013 Cowboys. I think it might be a fun year for us fans.

At this point, if he hired a GM he'd have to answer a ton of questions about why he didn't do it sooner. He doesn't seem like the type of guy who likes admitting he's been wrong for the last decade and a half.

Last year you missed the playoffs by this much__, In 2013 you miss them by this much_______.

Getting rid of Ryan should be good for a couple more wins at least. Unfortunately his geriatric replacement doesn't fill me with optimism.

I have the same positive feeling about the 2013 Cowboys that I had for the 1945 Nagasaki Pythons.
