09:28 AM ET 07.19 | The media has begun to vote for who they think will come out on top of every college football conference this season and the Big 12 was the latest conference to learn who many believe will come away with the title. Unlike the SEC, where Alabama is an overwhelming favorite, the Big 12 is up for grabs. Oklahoma State topped the media poll by earning the most number of first-place votes by a significant margin, while their in-state rival Oklahoma came in second place. TCU earned the third-place spot and the Texas Longhorns came in at No. 4. The only surprise is that Texas comes slotted in at No. 4 with all of the talent that they have returning, but the vote is so close and it is just an opinion. The Big 12 truly could be one of the most exciting races to keep an eye on this season.

who cares predictions in college sports are about as accurate as weather predictions............

I have to believe that 50% of the OSU votes were by reporters who didn't notice the "st." at the end of "Oklahoma", or aren't aware that there are 2 schools in Oklahoma, and I use that term loosely.

"I'm a man" so we should be picked #1.

Well ... yes!

Seriously, Texas had some highly-rated (Rivals) classes in the past but insiders knew there were big holes in the evals and positions. Those holes, for the most part, have been filled and the expectations are high.

Not a great year in the B12. Lots of average teams and new QBs. But OSU aint winning it.

This. LOTS of potential for all BIGXII teams, but not there this year.

I think it was more the coaching than evals....players seemed to be running the asylum.

We'll see this year...perhaps MA can get the offense going (still have questions about Ash), but I don't see Diaz figuring out the BIGXII offenses yet. He should have stayed in the SEC.

Media types use a simple formula for predicting future success:
50% based on last year's results
50% based on this year's rumors

That's what happens when you play in a conference. Can't cherry-pick your schedule like ND.
