07:09 AM ET 07.23 | Palmdale, Calif., native and Indiana Pacers guard Paul George understands why Lakers fans are trying to recruit him, and he's flattered by the attention. George said the speculation about his future is only going to heat up. "Everywhere I go [in L.A.] they say, 'We want you here. Don't sign with the Pacers,'" George said. "I hear that constantly." ... Still, George is excited about the future of the Pacers, including the recent re-signing of forward David West. George also is happy that Bird and Pacers general manager Kevin Pritchard are at USA Basketball's minicamp to support him. The Lakers, meanwhile, are transitioning after Dwight Howard departed in free agency for the Houston Rockets. "I'm happy to be in Indiana," George said. "I'm happy to be where I am. If I was going to leave Indiana and come to the Lakers, it just wouldn't be a smart move for me."

As long as Kobe is with the Lakers they will not be able to sign any big name free agents.

He is a restricted free agent anyways...So the point of him leaving is moot....

Lets see him do it at a high level for more than 1 season.

Not sure if he is a Laker material.

Hehehe! Way to turn it around when a player don't want to be a Laker...lol

For the last 10 years, there is only 1 player that is Laker material and he will extend for another 3-4 more years...lol

He wants to keep his #24 and not follow the original 24 as a Laker. That's too much burden on a hometown kid.

That's ALWAYS been the case. Kobe is just to selfish to make things work with another star player. He thinks he can do it all by himself and he fails to realize he never can nor will EVER win a championship all by himself. Ask Shaq and look at how the Lakers struggled until they brought Gasol in.
