Gundy wishes he still had departed QB

07:17 AM ET 07.23 | Mike Gundy believes Wes Lunt found the football home he'd ultimately preferred, even through the head coach's limiting transfer restrictions. "He had everything he needed to move in the direction he wanted to move (to Illinois)," Gundy said Monday. ... "I think, in the end, the players on our team and Wes and myself were all on the same page, and I think he ended up exactly where he wanted to go." Gundy noted that he tried to convince Lunt to return to OSU for three days after the quarterback told him he intended to transfer. And that end result, Gundy said, is the only part of the situation he wishes would have played out differently. "What I wish would have changed is that we could have kept him," Gundy said. "I tried. Nothing against (Clint) Chelf or J.W. (Walsh), but I think he's a good young prospect. I was unsuccessful recruiting him for the second time."

At least he sounded very honest about the situation and not sour grapes over it.

At least he didn't question the kids' "chest".

He's lying.Lunt wanted to follow his QB coach but the school was one of those restricted. Do you honestly think he was telling the truth after restricting him from going to all P12, B12, SEC schools plus another couple dozen in other conferences. Now he was telling the truth about wanting to keep him and trying to recruit him to stay (read limit his options so he wont want to leave) but to say he ended up where he wanted to be is BS unless he adds to his statement "based on the only 6 schools out of 120 that I will allow him to attend".

This.

I doubt he "wanted" to go to Illinois.

What do you land thieves, rusty cows, and randy frogs fans think about Okie Lite being picked by the media to win the conference?

I was surprised....would have to keep voting for Zero U until proven otherwise. Even then, UTX would probably get my vote based on playas signed.

Uhh, not that I don't think Princess Kate is a cutie, but that pic just doesn't measure up to the normal Hot Clicks standard. ----->>>>

Agree. The land thieves are it until someone takes it away from them on the field.

most I hear from do think OKLite is the team to beat. But, interesting to note that on the media vote, I think I heard the difference between 1-4 is closer than 4-5. Think OU lost too much, but who knows. It's definitely a crapshoot.

my vote would
1a/b. UTx/Lite
3. Baylor
4. OU

Lunt's back in his home state of Illinois, and Tim Beckman is the happy camper.

No matter what Gundy looks like a spurned ex-gf in this one.

the one stat about OU I hear very little about from last year - they gave up more rushing yards than anyone in b12. Even more than the crappy tackling Horns.

they had 3 games last year that were 1 play from losses and they lose a lot of experience. If they do well this year, Stoops deserves a crapload of credit

TCU is right with OU I think. depends on how many they lose to suspensions. They are a bit younger than UTX now, versus UTx being the youngest in D1 last year. I think next year may be TCU's year. Without being too optimistic, I see this years UTx team very similar to the 2008 team. If Manny and Robinson get the D right, good things might happen.
