07:01 AM ET 07.25 | Not only has Cowboys coach Jason Garrett not had to worry about Dez Bryant off the field, but he's also talking about a very bright future. Now that Bryant has his life and priorities in order, Garrett said Bryant's potential is limitless. "He's only scratched the surface," said Garrett. ... With his confidence and knowledge of the game at an all-time high, Bryant believes he is not only ready to take is place among the great receivers in the game but also become the best. If that means surpassing Detroit's Calvin Johnson, Houston's Andre Johnson or Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald, so be it. "If you're a wideout, that is supposed to be your mindset," Bryant said. "You don't want to be second. You don't want to be third. You want to be the best. That is what I'm trying to do."

For his sake, I don't care.

With all the guys getting into trouble in this leage, I must say it's really nice to see one guy get out of trouble.

Top 5 perhaps...

So..... Don't make a top 5 NFL WR, run kicks on special teams.

You're only as good as the guy slinging the ball. Unfortunately, Bryant has Romo which counts AGAINST him in this case. Fix that problem and you might have an argument.

July 25, 2013  07:36 AM ET

How about winning the Superbowl first before start yapping about being the best of something?

July 25, 2013  07:47 AM ET

He's got the talent..no question. If that lousy o-line gives Romo any kind of time, he will put up big numbers.

Yes DD..Give the man some credit. He's come a long way since last year and compared to so many around the league, including on his own team, it is a nice thing to see.

I'd definitely put these five guys ahead of Dez Bryant:

Calvin Johnson
Andre Johnson
Larry Fitzgerald
Brandon Marshall
AJ Green

He'd definitely make a top ten for me. But he'd have a lot of competition such as:

Roddy White
Reggie Wayne
Julio Jones
Wes Welker
Marques Colston
Victor Cruz
Demaryious Thomas
Anquan Boldin

...and probably a couple of tight ends I'd consider to be more dangerous of receiving threats as well.

Change that definitely to a probably. That second list started looking longer than expected.

July 25, 2013  08:17 AM ET

Not top 5.......Top 10 maybe.

Top 10 as of now, but seems primed to crack the top 5.

Your post actually made me realize he's kind of comparible to Brandon Marshall. I would put him ahead because of youth and healthy, though.

July 25, 2013  09:01 AM ET

Hope he wears some pants that fit this season though... Only annoying thing about Dez is his pants hanging off his **** after every catch.

July 25, 2013  09:04 AM ET

Bryant was one of the most dominant receivers over the second half of last season. I expect him to have a stellar season, much to my dismay.

July 25, 2013  09:18 AM ET

You want to do, so do, don't talk!

July 25, 2013  09:22 AM ET

<sits back and smiles...>

Big talk from an idiot!

Best WR in football? Bryant wants title

What title? As I recall, Calvin Johnson got a title last year, and his team finished 4-12.

There's only one "title" that matters, and that's not it.

with romo throwing 40 times per game.... dez could put up some real good stats. kinda like romo's stats. put up some good numbers for the fans to talk about, but when the playoffs come, realistic fans know where this team will be.

win some games in january before you start talking about being the best at something!!!!!
