07:20 AM ET 07.26 | Thomas Vanek takes no joy in the trade speculation, and he instead has his eyes on returning to the only team he's ever known. [Vanek] has been the subject of several trade rumours over the past few weeks. But last season's top scorer expects to remain as a member of the team when training camp begins in September. "As of right now, yeah -- I haven't heard anything differently," he told ABC affiliate KTSP. ... "At 29, I've still got many years left. But at the same time, you like to be on a team where you feel like going into camp you're contending. You're not guaranteed to win a Cup, but right now in Buffalo I think we're rebuilding which is not the best case scenario for me. But at the same time, there's a lot of good young players and hopefully we pick the right ones."

Except for that nasty word "contending".

But .... Toronto would have to part with their star D-man Celine, or their all-star forward Kessel to be able to afford Thomas "Whynek."

Vanek. Dare to dream about having a player of that quality in the Habs roster.

Well .... you could've been with the Oilers these last 5 years. :-)

I just dont want to saddle for the same result as last year's team. Vanek would help move us forward.

I can understand that. You've got a thoroughbred in Kessel but he doesn't corner well.
