12:35 PM ET 07.26 | The quarterback battle during New York Jets training camp will be one of the better and most intriguing competitions in the league, but don't expect it to drag on throughout the entire preseason. If Jets head coach Rex Ryan gets his way, he will give both Mark Sanchez and rookie Geno Smith the chance to show they can be the guy while he looks to move quickly and make a decision. It will likely take a few games in to the preseason for the competition to play out, but we can expect a resolution before the final game.

"Sooner" Smith beats out "Later" Sanchez.

Who else? Buttfumble.

Sounds great to me. This way we'll get to hear the inevitable second-guessing from every putz with a mike or a keyboard that much sooner, too.

This will be a circus act, no matter who wins it will be fun to watch.

I just don't know but for some reason Geno looks like a box of rocks would over whelm him in intellegence. Otherwise they would have already crowned him the next QB God of the Jets. Or put it this way, if he can't beat out Sanchez then we know for sure why 31 teams passed on the guy. Is it Wonderlic?

Fixed!

They should just take their time... will it really matter this season?

damn, beat me to it

July 26, 2013  02:19 PM ET

Great. What are they going to name him?

July 26, 2013  02:24 PM ET

No matter who starts week #1, they'll be benched by week #6.

The tatt should tell us who gets it. Might be there already.

Neither of the Mannings could beat out Sanchez on Rex's team. There has to be an envelope in a safety deposit box somewhere.....

Or Sanchize had a picture of Rex with a chicken and 5 gallons of KY.

Maybe Marky is very very good at something not related to football?

Sanchez is their new buttback-he lines up in the down position within sniffing distance of the right guard.

Sometimes I think the Jets do this on purpose just to get attention.

But, they get attention just for being so inept, why do they need to try for more attention?

Au Contraire....

Rex sat Tebow for 16 weeks, even though T had taken Denver from the dungeon to the playoffs.

You are under-estimating Rexy's ability to wreck a franchise.
