12:56 PM ET 07.26 | The MLB trade deadline is rapidly approaching and it is more evident than ever with the increased flood of rumors and reports around the league. The latest report to surface involves Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy, who is reportedly being checked out by the Seattle Mariners. It is a bit curious that the Mariners are even considering being buyers at the trade deadline with their team being 10 games back from first place and 7.5 games out of the Wild Card race, but perhaps they have a larger plan in place.

I'd like to see him back in the NL West with the Dodgers if they can get Chi to eat some of that contract. He's a beast pitching at Chavez Ravine.

the mariners should have enough money available to sign peavy to a long term deal,,why not??
eventually teams would learn from their mistakes!!!

Good grief, you would think Sandy Koufax is available. Peavy is yet another former NL pitcher who fall into one of the 3 categories ex-NL starters fall under when making the move to the AL. Sucks, gets old, or gets injured. ERA-wise he's about standard, 3/4's of a run higher, so he hasn't sucked. But he definitely hits the third category, hurt.
