Dwight Freeney: Bring on HGH testing

09:34 AM ET 07.27 | Add Dwight Freeney to the list of players calling for HGH testing. In a response Friday to Adrian Peterson's comments on the subject, the San Diego linebacker said he didn't know if HGH use was widespread in the NFL or that it was even going on. But, like Peterson, he welcomed the call for a league-wide test to make that determination. "I don't know that guys are doing it," Freeney said after practice, "but I don't care. I like an even playing field, so do it all. Make it Olympic-system testing for all I care because it evens the playing field. Whatever it is you've got to do, just do it ... and make it as strict as possible." The NFL and its players association are working on an agreement to test for supplemental HGH, a substance that is banned by the league and not easily detected. Peterson called for testing Friday after he said he'd heard suggestions that his astonishing comeback last season was linked to HGH, a substance he insisted he's never taken.

The only one not suspected of HGH use is Bob Costas.

Yup. Bob's into facelifts and Botox

HGH and steroids should be the only things they test for. The recreational stuff is their own business. Also if you play for Denver can you smoke weed? After all there are no laws being broken. Except Federal laws which you have to know are very difficult to enforce on a small scale. What does the average contract say about it?

Freeney's looking for a little relief from those 360lb linemen that can run a 4.6...

Terms of employment > pot being legal.

I hear genetic scientist in Sweden have come up with a test for "stupid". Goodell was all for it until he learned as a league employee he would be required to take it.

Did a section of the test include signing a contract with JJ?

The players union has not, and will not willingly approve of HGH testing. And not so sure the owners even really want to go there.

July 27, 2013  10:38 AM ET

Freeney is just running his mouth. He was probably mid-regimen during the interview where he says he doesn't know about it. He knows that actual testing will not happen until his career is over.

Yeah but, those are illegal for players, aren't they?

Can somebody let Mick Jagger know those aren't illegal for Rock stars? ------> ------> --------> -----------> ---------------->

Dwight Freeney longs for those days when 'O' linemen were passive blockers instead of screaming ''I'll kill your whole family'' when blocking.

Methinks thou doest protest too much.

Finally some semblance of intelligence. The players want an even playing field. Why should a player who doesn't cheat have to play against one that does. Yea, they finally stopped listening to those union reps who protect the few and screw the many.

As much as I would hope they want an even playing field, I have a hunch their leadership will still find ways to tell them that they don't. Sadly.

I am doubtful. Let me know the day the players vote to be tested for HGH. It can happen tomorrow, but it will not. They balked at it in the last CBA. This is just the talk you make when you know you don't have to do it.

The cheater will always be 1 step ahead of the police.

Since the beginning of time, in every industry known to mankind.
