10:02 AM ET 07.27 | The target date is set, and the Calgary Flames have every intention of meeting it. Flames president and CEO Ken King is confident the work needed to re-open the Saddledome after devastating flooding filled the 30-year-old building in late June will be finished by the time September rolls around. That's 37 days away. "We're targeting, and I emphasize targeting, Sept. 1," King said Thursday. "This is the midway point -- this is exactly halfway from the genesis of the problem, and we've kind of reviewed our situation -- and we think we're OK to continue with that as our target. What that means is we feel pretty good about being open. From a public standpoint, it should appear all systems go. Beneath that, shelving, warehousing -- things that are less critical to day-to-day operations -- will continue to be worked on." With the entire lower level of the Dome gutted by flooding -- water reached the eighth row of seats -- everything from ice plants to mechanical components to electrical aspects had to be ordered and rebuilt.

"Flames president and CEO Ken King is confident the work needed to re-open the Saddledome ..... will be finished by the time September rolls around."

That will be an amazing feat and a feather in their caps if they can pull it off. Now ... if only they can get the Flames to co-operate and win some games ..... but .... that might be asking too much. Far easier to re-build a building than a team.
