10:23 AM ET 07.27 | A lawsuit against Angels right fielder Josh Hamilton over the trademark rights to the slogan "Play Hard, Pray Harder" will be dropped following a mediated resolution reached between the slugger and the Texas-based sports apparel company that filed the suit. Hamilton confirmed news of the settlement before the Angels took on the Oakland Athletics on Friday, according to the Associated Press. Eric Fein, the lawyer for Josh and Matt Eckel, who claimed to have trademarked the phrase for their company first, said the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas has been informed of the settlement and the paperwork required to end the suit will be filed next week. The lawsuit against Hamilton claimed the outfielder had attempted to assign the rights to his wife's company, Scripture Art, and had even gone as far as to model a shirt with the slogan to promote the product. As part of the settlement Hamilton will not pursue those rights, according to Fein.

Josh didn't have his lawyer do a trademark search first? And if his lawyer didn't suggest one it's time to get a new lawyer!!!
