Jason Pierre-Paul may not be ready for Giants' opener

09:40 AM ET 07.28 | Training camp has started for the Giants but not for Jason Pierre-Paul, who is here in body but not so much in spirit. "Honestly, I don't feel a part of the team now with them being out there and doing all the work they are doing," Pierre-Paul said yesterday. "I will be on the sideline through it all." It brings a shudder to the Giants and their fans to think of Pierre-Paul as not part of the team, but for now, that's the way it is. Pierre-Paul called having a back problem "a really, really horrible thing to have," and although he says he no longer is in any pain following surgery and estimates he is 75 percent healthy, he offered no promise he will be ready to play in the Sept. 8 regular-season opener in Dallas.

I, for one, would not complain if he were not in the lineup on September 8.

The Giants need him.

I imagine there are more than a couple of Cowboy fans who feel that way

If I had the Boys O(le) line I'd want him out too.

Dude abuses our offensive line.

I am.

If you don't play against the best than you can't expect to ever be the best. He needs to be out there. Then we need to knock him around until he cries Momma.

Honestly, I would rather see a healthy Kiwanuka at DE than the JPP who finished last half of last year. Tough game to play with a bad back.

I was thinking "violates" would be the right word but OK abuses if you will

I didn't know he was Catholic.

So, real me aren't afraid to cry Momma.

Note subtle punctuation change....

They won't even need him to beat the Cowboys O-line.

Injury prone.

I feel sorry with anybody with back pain, comes and goes without notice, lumbar 5 seems to be especially nasty.

I would be a little ticked at the team doctor. Did they really think rest would fix it if it was so bad he could not sit in a chair last year? Waited a long time before going the surgery route. Maybe it was the player delaying it?

July 28, 2013  10:38 AM ET

Back pain is the pits, couldn't even imagine playing a contact sport with a bad back...

Old news again from the Post.

Months ago they were talking about JPP not playing for the first 4 weeks or so.
