Any takers for Tim Thomas?

10:18 AM ET 07.28 | Tim Thomas is ready to return to the NHL. Just one problem -- general managers don't seem to care. It's now three weeks into free agency and Thomas hasn't made much, if any, progress. The 39-year-old goaltender, who, prior to the start of free agency, was said to be exploring his options for next season after taking a year off, is still available. Three teams -- the Philadelphia Flyers, Florida Panthers and New York Islanders -- were originally rumoured to be interested in signing the 2011 Conn Smythe winner.

There just isn't much demand for an old goalie, especially one that has not been on the ice in a while. Athletes have a limited shelf life and need to maximize their earnings during that time. Perhaps it's time to plan for his next career. He kind of looks like a plumber to me.

Any takers for Tim Thomas?

I'm pretty sure he won't be going to Washington. ;-)

Have they tried the local cab company?

Are the Philadelphia Flyers, Florida Panthers and New York Islanders playoff hopefuls? So Boston, which owes their only Cup in years to him aren't interested? Tune in tomorrow.....

He can get a job in the Obama administration.

Is the NRA looking for a goalie?

Tim's doing this all wrong - sit and wait for the first desperate half-decent team to emerge - zero pressure + guaranteed good numbers, on short contract - cash-in later.

Or mebe that was his plan all along.

Not a good idea to take a year off at the tail end of your career. I'd suggest he try the KHL. They'll take anybody just to make it appear like they're giving the NHL stiff competition for talent.

Yes he is selfish. The only Bruin who did not go to the White House. Approximately 30 % of the players in the NHL are European and they love playing in the United States.
