07:14 AM ET 07.29 | After a press conference to announce the signing of Chauncey Billups, Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars met with reporters to talk about the franchise's near future. Question: Until you guys are settled at the point guard spot, you guys will be linked to every point guard on the market. Correct? (The question was referring to a rumor about Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings rumor offering Brandon Knight for Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo). Answer: (sighs) Unfortunately, yes. But I'm telling you we haven't had conversations with what's being reported out there. I can flat out tell you that we haven't conversations with those teams about that. ... Q: Is Andre Drummond the only untouchable? A: We're open to whatever, but it doesn't mean you're going to do the deal.

Cousins for Drummond...

July 29, 2013  09:05 AM ET

I wouldn't call Dumars "smart".

July 29, 2013  09:25 AM ET

Dumars can't because he doesn't know how to use his smartphone to call Drummond

Everyone Has Their Price, Bro.

Joe is probably not as smart as he once was. Hopefully he's not serious.

He really was NEVER smart. That Rasheed Wallace trade was by default. Det wanted a shooting big, Hawks wanted to get rid of 'Sheed'c contract middle of the season, no other option left.

So it was not smart to trade Stackhouse for Rip. I suppose it was not smart to give Billups a contract when he was just a bench player either. Lets see the guy constructs a Championship team and you say he was never smart. I guess the other teams that wanted Sheed that year where just plain ole stupid then. LOL Tell me again how many GM's have built a team that went to 6 consecutive Conference Finals and how many have won a Ship in the last 20 years. If you want to say he does not draft wisely I can see your point but give credit where credit is due and failure where failure is due. Besides the article does not tell the next sentence in which Dumars said Drummond is one of the guys we are not looking to move. Only untouchable in the game right now should be LBJ.

Drummond might be a real good player......but he might also be tyrus thomas. If a decent offer comes up- he could/should be moved

I wouldn't move Drummond for Rondo, for Cousins ehh not sure on that either. Drummond has the skills to be a 13-15points 10reb 2blk guy with little plays ran for him at the center position. On a rookie contract too. Hard to see Dumars moving Drummond. Athletically he is close to Howard with a little more cooridination. He is only 19 but I think sometime around all-star break you will really see something out of him.

Comparison to Dwight is too much. If Drummond had the numbers on a lousy team then maybe you can compare him to Dwight.

Drummond and Monroe, with some experience, are going to be a terror. If Singler gets his long distance and assists touch back, they are set for a while... Billups is on a steep downhill...... might be a waste of money...

He built the only championship team in recent memory that had arguably zero superstars. Never lucked into a number one draft pick to take an obvious superstar a la the Spurs, never had the opportunity to sign or trade for any either. Yet still won a championship. There are definitely dumber people out there.
