Nathan on the block

07:18 AM ET 07.29 | The closer market may just heat up in the coming days, and in surprising fashion. The Texas Rangers have had internal discussions about trading All-Star right-hander Joe Nathan, according to major league sources. If the Rangers proceed, it would be with the idea of dealing from strength and exploiting a thin market for relievers, sources said. Nathan, 38, instantly would become the most attractive closer available -- ahead of the Phillies' Jonathan Papelbon, who might not even be moved. The Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers are among the teams seeking to upgrade their late-inning relief. ... [The Rangers'] situation is growing more urgent ??? Texas has lost 11 of its last 14 games, and ranks ninth in the American League in runs per game.

.......good idea with soria looking good and feliz coming back....rangers need at least two bats to wake up this offense......and may need to fire wash and turn team over to the maddox boys...

Once again living up to your name. Sure..blame Wash because the front office didn't make up for the offense they lost in the offseason. He's not going anywhere.

I would not sit next to Nolan for a while. Not even the same room.

Don't be fooled by the rocks that he's got, he's still, he's still Nathan on the block.

Detroit has a definite need for a closer and has some good young hitters Detroit could afford to give up.

Only 7 minutes late, not bad!

I wonder who would get handed the gig next, Soria or Feliz?
