08:08 PM ET 07.30 | The Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago White Sox's have already held discussions about a deal that would send Jake Peavy to the desert, but the price was deemed too high. Now, with the deadline approaching it appears the two sides have rekindled talks and the Diamondbacks have emerged as the front runner to acquire Peavy. The 2007 Cy Young award winner would be a solid coup for Arizona as they try to chase down the National League West leading Los Angeles Dodgers. Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers is familiar with Peavy; the two spent quite a few seasons together in San Diego, and it was Towers, instructed by the Padres, traded Peavy to Chicago nearly four years ago.
