07:12 AM ET 08.01 | In terms of his health over the past few seasons, Luol Deng has had more than his share of rough patches, and he opened up recently about the side effects of a spinal tap that ended his season in the Eastern Conference semis. [Deng:] "I worked hard all season, played in the All-Star, and wanted to take the team as far as possible in the playoffs. But then, when I got sick, I think that we could have handled the situation better. Obviously there are some things that you can't handle. You can't really handle getting sick, being taken to the ER or going to the hospital. I got the spinal tap and that's where it went all wrong. My body didn't react well to the spinal tap, I had some serious side effects that not only didn't allow me to play basketball, but really put my life in danger."

Young strong athletes don't realize how vulnerable we really are.

Well I'm glad that's in the past for him. Now complete the mission with Rose. Take down Miami or bust.

That should be their singular focus.

the bulls to take down Miami?
The only real threat to the heat are the pacers, the bulls have a man-crush on Boozer, they failed to amnesty him, hence they won't be sniffing the finals anytime soon
Now the pacers?
That is a stacked team!
The bulls? A 1 man band, and we all know 1 man bands don't win anymore.

Please retire Deng!

Ignore the Nets at your own peril.

Indy are still #2 I think, with Nets #3. Indy cannot win anything w/o a true PG and they didn't make any moves to address that.
Nets season depends on KGs legs. if they can get top 4 seed for playoffs with KG well rested, watch out!!!

I'm not bullish on Bulls until I actually see Rose play.

Or we could just watch Indy or Crooklyn do it.

We were in the mix last year with half our team missing. We'll definitely be in the mix with a fully healthy unit.

KG's legs?

That's just a bad bet.....a VERY bad bet!

Not really. They don't need KG until playoffs. He just needs to play 15-20 minutes or so during regular season to be in shape.

A spinal tap? Ouch. He needs to consider carefully what the next steps of his life will be. Maybe it's time to sell the toys, sell the extra homes, have one home, a couple of nice cars, and downsize the rest.

That's IF the Bulls have a fully healthy unit. Only play will reveal that.
