07:15 AM ET 08.01 | Just how much spotlight is LeBron James willing to occupy? The NBA players association could be on the brink of a seismic power shift that goes well beyond the naming of a new executive director. [James], the game's best and most popular player, is mulling a bid for the union's presidency. "It's something he has talked about with a small group of people," a source with close ties to James told FOXSports.com on Wednesday. ... The source close to James cautioned that he thinks it's "unlikely" the Miami Heat superstar will decide to seek the presidency. "LeBron doesn't do anything halfway and he has serious concerns about whether he has the time he knows the job requires," the source said. "The demands on LeBron's time are already substantial."

I have a feeling he will not like being Prez....Owners arent going to concede and give in to his demands as if they are dealing with trying to sign him....

I'm sure his high school education more than qualifies him to be the president of a large union. How hard could it be? #witness.

This is real sad day for the league....

His posse can then be paid by the union.

The reason Fish got it was due to his business smarts and is BA in business. A highschool degree won't be enough. He wont't have my vote! (If I was a player)

Hey if George Bush could be the president of the United States then yeah, Lebron is more than qualified to be the president of the players union. Hes just a figure head..Their own union lawyers would handle everything that requires more than just a BA in business to negotiate. I rather go with the player that could draw the biggest guns to work with them. Lebron fits that bill.

Interesting point but I always heard that two wrongs don't make a right.

Well, Lebron being prez of the players' union is relatively harmless - only the players and owners of the league are affected. The worst result for the general public is that they mess up the finances, and ticket prices go up a bit. On the other hand, Bush being Prez resulted in the entire world experiencing a setback. Lack of control over the US economy led to world-wide recession, along with unnecessary military actions in the Middle East.Billions of people suffered because of his irresponsible behavior. That's the difference.

He did give us comical relief though :-)

So how long we have to wait for him to make this "decision"?

August 1, 2013  10:49 AM ET

He has multiple MVPs and a 2 time champion. He is the King for a reason. Lebron is not only thinking about being the first billionaire athlete(sarcasm) but he wants to be the president of all the players... This guy is becoming to be the best ever. Jordan better watch out because he has nothing on Lebron after his career is done....

lol
