07:28 AM ET 08.02 | From the day he was acquired by the Blues, Jay Bouwmeester had been considered part of the franchise's long-term future, and on Thursday the two sides agreed on a five-year extension. [Said GM Doug Armstrong:] "His offensive numbers in Calgary weren't what they were in Florida. But I think that he should be a 40-point plus player for us. His history shows that he's an 82-game player. There's not a lot of concern when you talk about Jay Bouwmeester." He was never a rental. He was always part of the plan moving forward. "I got that feeling after the trade, where it was kind of mutual," Bouwmeester said. "Overall, I think everyone had the general idea that we wanted to get something done. It's nice when both parties feel that way."

WE are officially in the dog days of summer.

Just read through all 5 "stories" for today, and don't give a rat's butt about any of them.

Have a great weekend, all

I'm just disappointed that none of them are great starting points for the usual nonsense in here....

It's NFL training camp season. Of which I do not care at all (nor do I care for any preseason), especially since it seems that every day another 49er gets seriously injured.

Hockey's turn will come in a month.

Regular season starts 2 months from yesterday......or when ever the Leafs 1st game is televised on CBC.

I have said it before so I'll say it again.

St Louise is one proven scorer away from being a deadly team.

Solid D. Solid in the net. Physical.

Just can't score.

Aren't you salivating over the fact the Cup was actually in Toronto and not just on display in the HHOF as the newest Leafs saviour Dave Bolland got to show it off...
