08:35 PM ET 08.03 | Although Greg Oden decided he would sign with the Miami Heat, just a week ago his agent hinted that the former number one overall draft pick wasn't interested in a big market or a team that would have the spotlight thrust on him. Of course, he picked a relatively large market and quite possibly the most popular/scrutinized team in the league, completely opposite of what his agent suggested. Teams like the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans were considered some of the favorites to land Oden, given the requests Oden's agent brought to the table. No more than a few days ago the Pelicans were near the top of the list.

......If he had gone to a team like the Pelicans, he would get more playing time - which is what he needs in order to re-start his career......

Oden doesn't want "more playing time" right now.

Right now, he wants about 20 minutes per for the first 30=40 games or so. Only the Spurs and the Heat would be able to give hime that much time initially and still be a premier team.

I think Getty got it right.. Oden needs to wear this much protection on the court in order to make it through half a season.. Mr. Glass = Biggest Bust of the modern era!
