07:16 AM ET 08.06 | The beard is (coming) back. Brian Wilson will make his debut as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization Wednesday for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Monday. Wilson, who underwent Tommy John surgery last April after two early-season appearances with the San Francisco Giants, signed a one-year contract with the Dodgers last week and has not pitched since April 12 of last season. "He's to the point where he can start throwing in games outside of Arizona," Mattingly said. ... There's no hard deadline when he has to be here." When Mattingly was asked when he'd like to have Wilson in the bullpen, he said, "As soon as possible and as soon as he feels like he's ready. ... Sooner rather than later."

It's been over a year. He should be ready. But I don't think the beard is coming back. I seem to recall that the Dodgers don't allow them.

He's had two TJ surgeries. That's uncharted territory. We'll see how he holds up.

Brings back memories of Dave Dravecky.

The human arm can only take so much strain. I don't see Wilson lasting long.

What's the hurry? The Dodgers have won 32 of 39.

Whole different scenario. Dravecky had cancer. I'll never forget the video of his arm snapping like a toothpick during his comeback. I read his book [i]When You Can't Come Back.[i] Turns out life had more important things for him to do than play baseball.

I was at his come back game at the Stick. Seven standing ovations when he left the game. I was heart broken when he later broke his arm pitching

Whose spot will he replace. The Dodgers have been doing very well with their current bullpen. Why mess with the team chemistry that has been successful. Earlier this year mattingly was maybe a couple of losses from being fired. then the dodgers started playing well puig was brought up. H.Ramierez stared hitting and has been very hot. and your bullpen has been solid. Why mess with success?
