07:25 AM ET 08.06 | As news swirls, again, over Johnny Manziel's eventful offseason, a good deal of speculation sees a murkier future. Manziel's alleged "five-figure" autograph session in January has prompted investigation, reportedly by the NCAA as well as media outlets, into the memorabilia practices of the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback. ... [Manziel's] status in the 2013 Heisman Trophy odds, according to Bovada, has been altered with the new development, along with many of the odds for Texas A&M's 2013 season. ... Manziel's odds for the 2013 Heisman Trophy have been dropped to 15-1, while Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller has moved up as the new frontrunner. Miller was named the Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year last month, and many believe the Buckeyes will be in contention for a BCS title.

Columbus Ohio is a Heisman town. GO BUCKS!

Braxton Miller is the front runner as long as Ohio State runs the table. I think that will be more difficult this year since they're actually playing for something. In the early 90s, Auburn had an 11-0 season followed by a 9-1-1 season, but once they were reinstated for title contention they slipped to 8-4. Granted, I think Urban's a lot better than Terrrrrrrrrry Bowden.

GO BUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

B.Miller will have a spectacular year, and I do think he will win the Heisman and if he returns his senior yr could do a repeat.

And Urbie will still be undefeated at the Horseshoe.

I am no fan of the Buckeyes, but with the exception of Michigan and maybe Wisconsin, the schedule is not at all a tough one. (Buffalo Bulls and Florida A&M Rattlers in the 'Shoe? Come on.) Miller played very well last year and he's the Heisman winner if he plays to the same level. As for meeting and being defeated by an SEC team, Urban knows the SEC.

luved how the "experts" all went gaga over the sled incident - first it wasn't Clowney who topped it over and second, it was the lite sled that pretty much any DL in CFB could have knocked over

The last time the Heisman went to a defensive lineman was 1949. Outlook for Clowney not very good.

QUOTE(#13):

Probably but ESPN didn't exist in 1949.

D-lineman - Ds in general - are undervalued by the press because they're undervalued by all but knowledgeable fans. Julius Peppers has been a dominant d-player for the Bears the last few years, but all eyes are on that deficient pimple Cutler. That's just the way of it. ESPN will change its tune.

Several things have to fall into place for B. Miller to be considered for the Heisman: Stay Healthy. Have great consistency of play. Spectacular, high-light plays for ESPiN. Win every game. Win convincingly. Stay out of trouble. Tasteful PR by tOSU staff. AJ McCarron and other contenders must have a couple of off games. And a healthy dose of good luck. That's a lot of factors.

Whats up with voting a Preseason Player of the Year? WtF is that?

Sorry, McCarron isn't the player Miller is.

Harley, I don't see anyone on the bucknuts schedule that would prevent them from winning every game. Which opponent could derail it?
