Burmistrov bolted over bitterness with Jets

07:27 AM ET 08.06 | In the first category of players who ditch the NHL for the KHL, there is Ilya Kovalchuk, a player in his prime who can make another fortune in Russia. [For the second] there's usually some underlying bitterness toward the reality of their NHL surroundings that plays into it as well. Alex Burmistrov, who left the Winnipeg Jets for Ak Bars last month, is clearly in that second category. He's getting a raise to $2 million in the KHL, but the restricted free agent bolted, according to his agent, because he wasn't happy with the Jets and coach Claude Noel. Initially, Burmistrov's benching for four games this season was cited as a motivating factor for his departure. But in an interview with Sport-Express, Burmistrov expanded on his unhappiness with Noel.

If I was condemned to play in Winnipeg, I'd be bitter too. Bitter and cold.

Interesting how these guys turn bitter when they're held accountable and are expected to work for their money.

Read the whole article. When Olli Jokinen is getting more ice time than you it's because you suck!

Burmistrov doesn't like Christmas either.

My thoughts exactly Roamer. It sucks carolling in Winnipeg in December.

Careful, the liberal thought police will throw you in a re-education camp if you continue with you continue with this line of thought.

The Jets are keeping a core together that can't make the playoffs and are paying them all to much money. I'd be bitter if I was this guy and a fan of their team.

Hey, we can't make the playoffs with this team, what should we do. Quick quick, let's lock them all into long term deals. Once they make more money, then we will make the playoffs.

Burmistrov's lips freeze half way through "The First Noel."

C'mon Roamer. Not fair. Whale told me they have a (short) tropical season in the 'Peg. It's between 1:30 and 2 PM on July 17th every year. Bring sun protection if you visit!

For the sake of Jets fans, it better be a short tune...especially if he can't get the team into the postseason in a conference that has two fewer teams than the east (they had their chance in the worst division in the league last year)...PS -- nice job once again NHL!

No issues with them locking up Wheeler or Bogosian...Little on the other hand, much like his last name, has shown very little out on the ice.

While true, i'm not the biggest fan of Claude Noel. With all the whining I've seen him do on Sportscentre, I can only imagine how he must be in the room with the guys.

I don't get his act either. He tries to come across like a witty hard nosed Torts clone and fails miserably at it. Not sure about his ability to coach an NHL team, if the Jets don't get out of the gate quick he could be the first coach gone next season.

Two very good signings. The Jets have a nice nucleus under contract long term. They have a bright future if Noel doesn't screw it up.

And bring the other protection too, we don't need any little Roamers running around either.
