07:08 AM ET 08.06 | Is Week 1 going to lose a priceless storyline in the nation's biggest market? Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis said Monday it is "too far down the road" to know if he will play in Week 1 against his former team, though coach Greg Schiano remains hopeful. Revis, a four-time Pro Bowl player, has been a common sight at Bucs training camp in recent weeks but has been limited to a light workload as he continues his recovery from a torn ACL in his left knee. On Monday, Revis covered wide receivers on a separate field from full-team work with quarterback Adam Weber throwing passes. He also participated in walk-through "teach periods" with the top defense, as he has done routinely throughout recent practices.

"It's too far down the road" to know I'm playing week 1.... Of any year, since, you know, my contract is a series of 1 year contracts.

Since leaving the Jets, wisely, he doesn't make promises he can't keep.

Right... Now all of the sudden, there's no "guarantee" in him.

But playing against Mark Sanchez is such an opportunity to pad your stats.

C'mon, Darelle, go for it. Tell them the knee feels fine.

And, they don't have Tebow to kick you around anymore, either.

If the knee isn't ready to go right now it's not going to be ready to go in 30 days. ACL injuries don't progress that quickly. I'd say week eight might be right.

He went from one zoo into another zoo, what did you expect?

He does get paid while he's "nursing" his knee along, right? This could take a while.

I don't know how you came up with that math......am eagerly awaiting the analytically breakdown

Same way the Bucs and Revis have been predicting his return. I take my right hand and place it behind my back and.........Voila!..........right out of thin air.

August 6, 2013  09:20 AM ET

well...now that's a damn shame!!

August 6, 2013  09:38 AM ET

I was expecting him to hold out for lower humidity at camp.

August 6, 2013  09:41 AM ET

As A Bucs fan I can say this report is full of BS. There is nothing but talk that he will start Week 1 locally. The knee is progressing fine. He will not play at all in preseason and he is working seperately from the majority of the team, but he is doing drills, cutting on the knee and not wearing a brace. The team doctors have all but assured he will be ready to go Week 1 and Mark Sanchez will throw him 2 TDs.

August 6, 2013  10:57 AM ET

I can guarantee he'll threaten another holdout in the next couple years.

August 6, 2013  10:59 AM ET

Revis will play against jets even if he has to wear a brace. Revis can't wait for Sanchez to throw him a couple of passes.

@ New York. Must be part of the trade agreement. We'll trade you Revis as long as he doesn't start in the opening game.

OR

Maybe Revis is afraid of being burned by Sanchez.

Didn't he get hurt in the first or second game of the 2012 season? There are players that injured their ACL much later in the season and are already back in camp.
