07:14 AM ET 08.06 | Kobe Bryant's ruptured Achilles' tendon may have ended the Lakers star's late-season run, but, in a way, started another impressive stretch. The initial recovery timetable was set at six to nine months. However, recent reports suggest he may be ready to return for not just the start of the 2013-14 regular season, but as early as training camp. While on tour in China, he said the surgery performed was innovative and thus his recovery has been unique. "The surgical procedure was different [...] and because of that the recovery has been different," Bryant said in the southern city of Shenzhen. "The normal timetable for recovery from an Achilles, we've shattered that. Three-and-a-half months I can already walk just fine, I'm lifting weights with the Achilles just fine and that's different."

I had a new procedure done to replace my ACL in 1990. Was told all European soccer players where having it done. Unfortunately the synthetic ACL only lasted 5 years. Hope this isn't the case with this new procedure.

I would think that medicine has improved in the 23 years since you had that procedure.

And he has access to far better surgeons than I had.

Put aside the rape allegations, and bigoted slur against homosexuals and philandering behind his wifes back....I would hate to see Kobe go out like that...

( ducks and runs from lakers fans )

If he was perfect people would hate him for that. I signed up as a fan because of his amazing abilities (plus he plays for the greatest NBA franchise of all time). Not for the actions which might have him in numerous recovery groups.
