Avant on Cooper: 'Guys are definitely over it'

07:06 AM ET 08.07 | Water, meet bridge -- at least that's how some teammates are calling it. Before practice began on Tuesday, Riley Cooper stretched on one of the three main fields at the NovaCare Complex. He wasn't looking when Jason Avant came up from behind and surprised him by smacking him on the backside. Then the two embraced for a moment. Though you couldn't hear the words exchanged between the two, the message was obvious enough. After Cooper spent four days away from the team to undergo counseling (see story) following a racial slur he uttered, there was Avant -- quite literally waiting with open arms. "I'm always happy to see him," Avant said [Tuesday]. ... "As far as our team, guys are definitely over it," Avant said. "We've talked. We've had dialogue. We've accepted his apology."

They're over it? Avant is either mentally disabled or a clueless idiot.

Exactly. The guy screwed up royally, owned it completely, apologized, went to sensitivity training and from all indications is genuinely sorry for what he said. Give it a rest and give the guy a break. If Cooper had a history of being a racist, we all know the press would have dug that up. Nothing. Zip. Nada.

No story here.

It is only news if it is new and nothing stays new for long.

I agree I doubt he is racist, it would be hard to make it as a gator being racist unless he hid it very good, the man made a mistake lets forget it and move on

Exactly.......he made his amends now let it go......if only the media could see it that way - no they keep stirring the pot and ruffling everybodys feathers.

On one hand, he's drunk and screwing off at a concert with friends, but on the other hand - even stinking drunk - he has a bad soul. He did all the right things in reconciliation, but man - that's a bad heart.

I didn't bother clicking the links to see what he actually said, (better things to do and all) so I have a unique perspective watching the media circus surrounding this mess. I must say, it's not even very interesting.
