07:16 AM ET 08.07 | Both the Braves and Nationals benches cleared Tuesday after Bryce Harper was plunked by Julio Teheran, and this was two innings after the young slugger had hit a towering home run. Though he had plenty to say to Teheran -- lip readers surely enjoyed breaking down the video -- Harper insisted he never planned to charge the mound or do anything that would get him ejected. "Nah, I wasn't going to go out there," he said. "I mean, 14 1/2 games down, and I need to be in the lineup. He's got to do what he's got to do. And it's part of the game." ... Though Harper's home run trot was clocked at 23.66 seconds (slowest of his career, according to TaterTrotTracker.com), it was still four seconds faster than Justin Upton's trot the previous night.

Bro just needs to round the bases instead and quit gazing at his homers all the time .

Can't these guys (and it's all sports) just act like they've played the game before?

Haven't seen him in a long time.

At least he didn't run it backwards. That usually takes 30 seconds

Wow, 8 of the 10 slowest HR trots belong to Ortiz. Harper's wasn't even close to the top ten. It must have been for watching it. He's still very young. He's going to be fine once he gets it all figured out.

Teheran had already hit 10 batters this year, doesn't mean he's gonna stop pitching inside.

but why plunk a guy on purpose in a one run game? (regardless of the div lead)

Freeman got hit in the same spot on his body just two innings prior to that incident...no mention of that.

TaterTrotTracker.Com????? Somebody somewhere has to get a life lol.

Upton's HR the night before is entirely the context. If he didn't pull that crap, Harper justs puts his head down and trots. Nor can the be any debate that Teheran threw on purpose. Braves get the final laugh, they're gonna win the division. But Nats will extract their satisfaction from the Braves in the head to head games they have left and it will leave a bruise.

August 7, 2013  08:45 AM ET

He only did that because Upton did the same thing the night before... BUT Davey didn't do anything about it the next day when Upton came to bat... The Braves retaliated, and Davey STILL did nothing! It's time for him to GO! He's a weak manager, not defending his players, and it translates over to the team.

I like this guy, but sometimes he makes bad choices.

I'd say he's pretty well behaved for a 20 year old. Teheran gut butt hurt and plunked him, which is more immature.

The guy is senile. He was probably asleep in the dugout at the time.
