07:27 AM ET 08.07 | After some time spent in limbo and wondering how to train for his offseason, Brent Burns has his marching orders. It appears [Burns] will continue to play forward for the San Jose Sharks. The veteran defenceman was shifted up to the wing last season after the team found itself struggling to score goals following a 7-0 start. "We went to Brent and said, 'This is what we think is best for the team,'" Sharks general manager Doug Wilson told NHL.com. "He didn't even hesitate. He said, 'Absolutely, let's go.' That tells you a lot about Brent Burns. He's a team-first guy and he's going to be valuable to us for many years going forward, whether as a forward or a defenceman." ... Before the NHL, he was a power forward in the OHL with the Brampton Battalion.

"Brent, we need you to play wing. We need size out there, we've got a bunch of guys that play a small game. We're going to put you on Joe's line to give it some size."

"Sharks will wing it with Burns"

Only the Wings, the Ducks, the Jets, the Hawks and Flyers can wing it (The Penguins don't count. They can't fly).

The Sharks have to settle for a splash.
