07:12 AM ET 08.09 | So much for a happy return to Pittsburgh. Plaxico Burress has suffered a setback that could mean the end of his roller-coaster NFL career. NFL.com's Albert Breer reported the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver suffered a torn rotator cuff in practice Thursday, according to a source close to the player. It's likely a season-ending injury. Burress reportedly was injured while attempting to make a catch over defensive backs Da'Mon Cromartie-Smith and Ryan Steed. Burress came down awkwardly on his shoulder, according to NFL.com's Aditi Kinkhabwala. Burress walked off the field, then was carted to the locker room. Burress later was seen with his right arm in a sling. Burress had been in the mix to be the Steelers' fourth or fifth receiver.

Oh no..is that his shooting arm?

He's still alive? Huh, who knew?

August 9, 2013  07:43 AM ET

When I did my rotator cuff, they told me 6 months before I could play hockey. I started refereeing at 4 months, taking warmups at 5 and playing at 6.

He's gone for this season. He's 35, so wait and see about the career.

Anybody got Randy Moss's number on a scrap of paper anywhere?

Dude... That's just wrong.

Funny that the Steelers haven't said his injury is a torn cuff and he was seen the next day at practice in pads doing rehab exercises. If the tear was confirmed the Steelers would have either cut him or placed him on IR or PUP. Until either the Steelers announce his injury or take one of the actions I mentioned I'll chose not to beloved one of these unnamed source stories.

The Redskin laundry on defense in the 1st looked a little soft...

If this is it for him then another door opens. He and Ellis Hobbs can do the autograph signing memorabilia circuit together. Branca /Thompson NFL style.

All of the starters were only playing the first series. The rest of the game, I agree. Orakpo's over-agressiveness on the edgecan be a problem for us sometimes. Like on that Chris Johnson TD.

We have some good rookies in the secondary who definitely need seasoning (Amberson & Rambo).

Glad we could get you to watch though, the Boys didn't hold my interest that long.

Honestly, I didn't even know he was still alive.

I didn't even bother to watch Sunday night...

NFLN did a wraparound last night. Focus was on your heroes and the Rams/Browns.

It just happened yesterday. I don't see the value of scrambling to move him to PUP or IR in the first 24 hours. They'll provide an update soon enough, move him out, and get another body into camp.

Maybe. But if he was just a regular person he might still be in prison.
