10:01 AM ET 08.10 | Former Cardinals icon Albert Pujols said late Friday that he plans to sue former Cardinal Jack Clark, as well as those connected with the St. Louis radio station on which he appears, for Clark's on-air steroids allegations about Pujols. Then shortly after midnight Saturday morning, the company that has put Clark and co-host Kevin Slaten on the air abruptly announced they will not be returning -- after just seven shows. Early Saturday, insideSTL announced it --has terminated its relationship with Jack Clark and Kevin Slaten. As independent contractors, we want to make it clear that the opinions expressed do not necessarily reflect the opinions of insideSTL. Also as independent contractors, insideSTL did not have editorial control over the show's content." Meanwhile, NBCSports.com and ESPN's T.J. Quinn reported Friday that they had received an email from Mihlfeld in which he denied ever telling Clark that he provided steroids for Pujols.

sue for what? a guy on atalk show can't give his opinion?I mean lets get real, pujols #s for the first part of his career were literally otherworldlyand in an era where basically everyone's #s who was otherworldly was a peds user, this isn't an 'outrageous' claim. And add into the fact that he's had years of chronic nagging injuries....that he's played through ....and it isn't far-fetched that he could've been a user....

exactly, and what would Jack Clark have to gain by lying?

If he had said it was his opinion, that's one thing but he stated that it was a fact.

"Clark has brought Pujols??? situation up at least twice already on the air. The first time, after Slaten said last Friday that he long has believed that Pujols ???has been a juicer,??? Clark jumped in before [co-host Kevin] Slaten finished his thought and said, ???I know for a fact he was. The trainer that worked with him, threw him batting practice from Kansas City, that worked him out every day, basically told me that???s what he did.???

Clark then talked about a conversation he had about a dozen years ago with Mihlfeld, who has worked as a conditioner with several major-league organizations. (Both men were with the Dodgers then, and Pujols was early in his career.) Mihlfeld ???had told me what he was doing with ???Poolie??? ??? threw him batting practice, worked him out, shot him up, all that stuff,??? Clark said on the air."

lol.so he is recounting a story.....again- not sure how that is a sueable offense

Depends on whether its true or not. He presented it as fact. That opens him up to a defamation suit if it's not true.

I'm not disagreeing with you - I think Pujols is upset with the whole PED's mess and everyone looking to him ( or maybe DeDe is upset? ) Who knows and I certainly don't care.

I'm more curious about his accusation toward Verlander

That was opinion. That was never stated as a known fact. They will get away with that. He crossed the line with Pujols by saying it was a fact and giving a story that he felt proved it as fact.

how can they prove it is true or not? do they have DNA from 10 years ago to test ?its basically his word vs the other guys word.in Clarks mind/world- he trusts his buds info as fact.- that being said - in todays world....I guess anything can be sued, but I don't think Albert would want to open up a bag of hyper-inflated worms

Except Clark's bud claims he never said that. When I listen to Clark's context of the conversation it seems absurd. The professional trainer is compromising confidentiality on illegal activities just to talk some fat 50 year old coach into taking steroids? I don't buy that conversation at all. It doesn't matter if they win the lawsuit anyway. The fact they are willing to bring the suit at all will keep Clark unemployed in media from here out.

This is all part of the "shock" radio genre. These guys feel they can say whatever they want with no repercussions. Clark claims that he's known for over 10 years that Albert has been taking PEDS but he waits until he has his own radio show to say something about it.

Jack has become somewhat of a publicity hound in STL the last few years. This gets his name back in the headlines.

How many times has Slaten been fired now, anyway?

Not a road Pujols should go down. There is no win to it but a lot of bad publicity . He made his point anything more does not really help him.
