05:34 PM ET 08.10 | Since Jason Collins publicly came out as a homosexual man playing North American professional sports, the discussion has often shifted to whether or not the journeymen NBA center would land at the end of an NBA bench for next season. With ancient centers popping up everywhere and making decent money just to be tall, it was expected that Collins should find a new home unless his added distraction would lock him out of the Association. It appears that after some slight talks with the Brooklyn Nets that Jason Collins may have another potential suitor as he looks to fill the end of an NBA roster before the start of training camp. The Detroit Pistons have expressed exploratory interest in signing free-agent center Jason Collins.

Even at the peak of his playing career, Jason Collins was never a good player. He's never been a All-Star, never won any player awards or helped his team win the NBA championship. All Jason Collins was ever good at was grabbing a few rebounds and his 6 fouls a game.

Of course if no team signs Jason Collins. Then there's going to be people out there will say that the reason Jason isn't playing for a team is because he's gay. No the reason why he might not be playing on any team is he's not a good player and his at the end of his playing career.

Curious about the deleted comments.

JC will be a decent bench player for the pistons, may turn out better than Greg Oden at the end of the season!

His rebound total could skyrocket.

I mean... what NBA player is going to want to box this guy out for a rebound?

You would think they would move on somewhere else since they aren't having much luck selling stuff here.

That is still a lot more than what Greg Oden has or can do, more than what Jerome James has done or can do.
Collins has always been a physical beast, that knows to take care of his body, and be ready when his number is called by his coach. Teams with championship pedigree do need such hard working guys to take 3-4 foul in 3-4 minutes maybe grab a couple boards.

In his defense, he was neither a top 5 pick, and neither signed ludicrous contracts like many other failed bigs.
Stop your hate right there!

We aren't alone...

My wife is on some hair product newsgroups... The exact same crap gets posted there. Including the ones for watching sports events live.

The comments that were deleted were negative comment about Collins being gay. I won't say what they put down. But the comments were just a foolish things to say.

Some in the media call him a hero because he's gay. Who cares if he's gay? My only question is can he play?
