Jake Locker's very bad practice

07:01 AM ET 08.12 | Jake Locker's Sunday night practice became a nightmare. He threw three interceptions -- he threw only three interceptions in team drills all of training camp last year -- and was off target on several other throws. Coach Mike Munchak called it a bad night for the offense. "If Jake throws well in practice or he doesn't, there are a lot of things that go into a ball being picked off, like guys not being blocked at the line of scrimmage or when he's trying to throw a ball that he'd be sacked in a game," Munchak said. ... The defense "won one today," [Bernard Pollard] said. "I think Jake is a very good quarterback. He is very athletic and smart. As we continue to go in training camp, we are all trying to knock off the rust and get ready to go for the regular season so we can win some games."

Well, he only is in his third year, after all. Things aren't looking too good.

Should have kept Hasselbeck.

The ole Junior slump?

He's never been known for having a high passing percentage.

August 12, 2013  08:57 AM ET

This is nothing new. Accuracy and consistency were the big issues for him coming out of college.

"I think Jake is a very good quarterback". What scale are we using???

August 12, 2013  09:32 AM ET

Overrated much? Locker's college record: 10-21. What did he ever win? (Other NFL QBs with losing records in college: Patrick Ramsey, Kyle Boller, J.P. Losman, Jay Cutler and Josh Freeman. We know about the first three, the jury's still out on the last two [although all us Bear fans can do for this season is hope and pray for better QB play]).

Some of the article sounds like you could be talking about Sanchez or Tebow, not company you would want to keep.

August 12, 2013  11:41 AM ET

What where they expecting Locker to be .......the next Peyton Manning.
In college he was average at best so Don't see him being much better in the NFL, all tho his 3rd yr of college was his best could his 3rd yr in the NFL be his best so far.......of coarse that wouldn't be that hard to do with his stats.

I'm not sold on Locker at all. But I wouldn't be concerned about a bad practice. Now 5 bad practices, yes!

I think I dated her... She was a bottle blonde... If I drank a bottle, she looked blonde.

One of the few QBs I'm the glad the Vikes didn't draft instead of Ponder.

To be fair, most of the UW losses were despite Locker, not because of him. He played his butt off most Saturdays, but the cast around him wasn't so great. UW still hadn't recovered, recruiting wise, from NCAA sanctions from years before. But having said that, he still had too many mind-numbingly bad games with bad decisions. The scouts were sold on him because he physically fit the blueprint for what they were looking for. He is big and fast. He can win with his legs. But then there are the bad passing decisions, so that makes the legs moot.

I certainly give you the hard playing and a few heroic type games, but the hype exceeded what the guy actually did on the field. (Willingham was exceedingly high on the guy.) You don't win with legs in the NFL. Maybe a combination of legs and arm, but mostly with arm.

Ouch! That was pretty derogatory for both QBs. Nice!
