Holmes milking his Lisfranc injury?

07:07 AM ET 08.12 | Of course, with a quarterback competition over which to fret, some Jets stories may be underplayed, but Santonio Holmes' availability may become more a topic in coming weeks. If you're betting on [Holmes'] return, the smart money says he will miss the entire preseason as he continues to rehab his surgically repaired foot. So when will he come back? Holmes is such a mercurial personality that people close to the organization don't know what to believe. Is his Lisfranc injury still healing or is he milking the injury to protect his self interests? ... [Holmes] knows he will be released after the season. That makes this a contract year for him. If he re-injures his foot, he'll be damaged goods next offseason or, worse, could be forced to retire. So you can bet he'll take his sweet time.

Is Lisfranc related to Ann?

Francly, my dear, I don't give a damn.

It's pre-season. If there's a time to take some games off and heal, this is it.

Besides, he's a receiver. Who on the Jets is going to get him the ball?

he is probably milking it, if he is; he's smarter than I give him credit for....

Jets just need a complete do over from the owner to the water boy.

So now waiting until an injury is fully healed is consider milking it?

You're talking about an organization from the owner, head coach on down that has no idea how to tell the truth....why would anyone believe a "mal content" WR?

August 12, 2013  08:57 AM ET

My gf had 2 lisfranc surgery, one to fix problem other to remove hardware. She was no weight for 16 weeks first time, 8 weeks second time. As much as I think S.Holmes is a tool, based on him in college and pros I would have to say I some what understand his problems.

Self interest?Once he's released, he won't be getting any serious offers cause he's a mal content and locker room cancer.........u less he had a monster season So how is dogging it beneficial?Pup him, then release him when healthyPurge the remaining garbage

It's not, but as we all have seen in the last few years most vets in the league either milk injuries or drag on contract disputes just to avoid training camp and/or parts of the preseason to preserve themselves and their bodies for the regular season. Basically another overblown story because the media has nothing else on their plate to talk about.

Tool or not, the Jets need all the weapons they can get. Let him heal. Still a month away from real games.
