07:16 AM ET 08.12 | Without even having coached a game in the City of Brotherly Love, Brett Brown has played into overtime. The 76ers and [Brown] continued over the weekend to negotiate a contract that would make Brown the team's new coach. The team offered Brown the job on Friday. Brown was one of four finalists to interview with the Sixers in New York last week. He has long been considered a favorite for the position. On July 31, a league source told The Inquirer that Brown was the organization's top choice. New general manager Sam Hinkie said the process of finding a new coach could take up to 100 days. Monday marks the 91st day since Hinkie took over and the 113th day since the resignation of former coach Doug Collins. Brown, 52, would become the 24th coach in 76ers history.
