Brighter days ahead for White Sox

07:20 AM ET 08.12 | A new horizon? Rick Hahn has the White Sox well on their way to a new identity. Assigned the unenviable task of retooling an aging and ineffective offense, the White Sox general manager has had a productive month. Faced with the possible retirement of Paul Konerko after this season and the reality both Adam Dunn and Alex Rios would likely be gone after the 2014 season, Hahn has expedited the process. In less than four weeks, the first-year GM added three solid prospects to the upper half of a minor-league system short on impact talent. ... He also added depth in the form of three lower-level prospects through the trade of Jake Peavy and has another player to be named later on the way for moving Jesse Crain. The third -- and perhaps most important fact -- is Hahn shed nearly $40 million in payroll.

Rios has gotten off to a very nice start in Texas.

I think he'll prove to be a solid replacement for Cruz. He adds a little speed to the lineup as well.

As a W. Sox fan I just hope they take some of that money and spend it on international talent or shoot for some good mid range Free Agents, as long as they are on the younger side.

And I hope they don't draft another "Ken Williams" type outfielder. Great athlete, bad at baseball.
The Sox have enough of them in A and AA ball.

the only good thing about this trades??was that he remove some long term deals from the white sox franchise, other than that, the W/S GM got nothing from the rangers who at the end mocked them really good, the poor little white sox team, but nothing should come at easy or should it be??

i bet you IF just IF,somebody who its confuse or well desoriented ask the halos to trade them, the pujols player as a hitter this month,,should halos hesitate??heck even if halos get nothing in return very likely the angels would agree to that offer at once,,,,ofcourse it wouldn't happen though,,,

With our luck, Reinsdorf will probably allocate those funds for the Bulls.

Question is, does Texas bring back Cruz?

I think he's a free agent at the end of the year.

He is.

There's talk of not activating him for the Playoffs. Similar to what the Giants did sigh Melky.

Surely, know why? with the dark past as being PEDs user, the rangers should be able to put tough conditions, in other words, the rangers will sign Cruz to a 10 million two years deal :-) :-) :-)

Hopefully his next contract will include those smiley faces you love so much.

Their futures so bright, they gotta wear shades.

Ha!

Hopefully they build around Konerko, right?
