Irish S Baratti lost for year?

07:22 AM ET 08.12 | Notre Dame had been dealing from a position of strength in the defensive backfield -- until it took a step back in that regard this past weekend. Perhaps the deepest position on the Notre Dame football team appears to have lost a little bit of that quantity and a whole lot of quality. IrishIllustrated.com was the first to report Sunday that sophomore safety Nicky Baratti's apparent shoulder injury will sideline him for the upcoming season -- according to a Facebook post by his father, Clarke. A Notre Dame spokesman wouldn't confirm the details, instead deferring to ND head coach Brian Kelly's scheduled meeting with the media around 12:30 p.m. Monday. The 6-foot-1, 206-pound Baratti played in all 13 games last season as a freshman, primarily on special teams.

OMG what is ND going to do, a Safety that played 13 games on special teams is out for the year. I guess just shut it down, this year is lost and wait till next year.

Any domer insight on this story? Was Baratti the projected starter? Or is this a loss of depth?

Ahhh yes. Redfield is a terrific athlete and football player. His initiation to the SC/ domer rivalry will not be friendly for him. Good luck.
