Bears courting RB controversy

07:10 AM ET 08.13 | Running back Armando Allen's loss is ... whose gain, exactly? The Bears are calling [Allen] week to week after he suffered a right hamstring injury in Sunday's practice, the same designation they gave linebacker D.J. Williams, who has been out with a calf injury since July 31. With Allen's future in doubt, the Bears signed running back Curtis Brinkley to a one-year deal Monday. The free agent out of Syracuse spent the last three seasons with the Chargers and has special teams experience. If the Bears believe Allen will be sidelined for some time, Brinkley could push undrafted rookie free agent Michael Ford for a spot on the 53-man roster. Allen developed as a special teams player last season and received occasional work as a change-of-pace back.

Some teams call this creating competition. The Chicago Tribune calls it creating controversy. Both words start with the letter C, so I guess it's ok.

And a similar thread with the Dolphins yesterday implied they don't have a clue.

So when exactly did competition become controversy in the NFL? Gotta be something the press made up.

They don't!! And the only reason they should finish second in their division is that the Jets/Bills are even more clueless.

As I saw no mention of the starter in the paragraph above, I saw no sense in reading further.

It's basically a question of who's backing up Forte. Hopefully we never have to see Allen, Brinkley or whomever else in action before the fourth quarter of blowouts.
