11:38 AM ET 08.13 | A prospect for a Canadian junior hockey team died on the ice while trying out for the team. Jordan Boyd, 16, collapsed on the ice during tryouts for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Attempts to revive Boyd failed on the ice, and he was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Boyd's father was at the tryout when the fatal incident happened. No comment was made by him or any family members, which is no surprise and unnecessary considering that nothing is known about the death. There has only been one other death in the history of the QMJHL.

Aye.

Anybody recall the story where the kid went into the corner, got hit and didn't get up and Dad (who was in the crowd watching) immediately knew something was wrong cause his kid ALWAYS got up? Dad races to the ice and the kid says "Dad, I tried to get up..." Something like that.

Not sure what is worse, being a quadriplegic or being dead.

Sobering. We take for granted how precious life is

RIP indeed. No words can soothe the pain his family must feel. I'm assuming it was probably some congenital heart problem and this tragedy could have happened at any time in the young man's all too brief life.

Both are extreme tragedies. Hard to cope with either way.
