08:11 PM ET 08.13 | Why the Texas Rangers signed Manny Ramirez (outside of increasing minor league ticket sales), I'm not sure. With one of the more talented farm systems in the majors, there was never much of a chance Ramirez would see time on the senior circuit. Now he certainly won't. Ramirez, who had been absolutely destroying any pitch he saw overseas, didn't have that success transfer back stateside as he hit a paltry .259 in 30 minor league games. There was some of Ramirez's prototypical power shown as he did club three home runs in just over 100 at-bat's, but that's not going to get it done in the hitter friendly PCL.

Who woulda guessed this would end with a whimper?

Oh, yeah. Everyone.

Texas signed Manny because they need someone to generate runs. It was a shot in the dark, but an understandable one. The lineup may not look bad on paper but they've had serious issues scoring runs this year.

Simple as that.

Indeed.

Just like next year when some desperate club gives ManRam another chance.

I mention this because the article would lead us to believe it is a baffling mystery why Texas signed Manny.

It isn't.

The 23 hours per day you spend on here doesn't count as working.

The "few" hours you mention works out to 281 hours last month. Sounds like you need a union, too.

Bye, Manny.
Finally!

Cost the Rangers $10,000...

Manny should have gone to work for the spammers instead. He could have made $19,386.
