Toews: 'Naive' to think NHLers aren't juicing

07:15 AM ET 08.15 | Saying, "The more tests the better," Jonathan Toews made his feelings clear on PEDs. [Toews] says it's "naive" to think nobody in the NHL uses steroids, even though no players have yet been caught juicing. "I think it would be naive to say that there's no one in the NHL that is trying to get the edge in that fashion," the Chicago Blackhawks centre said on Sportsnet The Fan 590 Wednesday. "But at the end of the day, whether you get caught now or not, down the road at some point those sort of things come out as we've seen in Major League Baseball and cycling. "Eventually ... someone is going to save their own butt and throw you under the bus. And that's your legacy. That's what people remember: that you're a cheater and you took performance-enhancing drugs.

That was my first thought as well. Someone from his own Cup-winning team that happened to overachieve then sign a lucrative free agent deal, perhaps?

Totally agree with him and with the scenario he poses. Lance Armstrong was juicing his whole career and never failed a blood test. It wasn't until one of the US team got caught and ratted out Armstrong that his steroid use came to light.

I'm now waiting for Toews to be suspended for violating the league's drug policy.

I expect him to be suspended for exercising his freedom of speech policy.

He got a 4 year deal for $12 mil. I'd say it helped him plenty.

I was thinking more of his on ice production. His agent must've slipped a mickey to the Preds GM.
